Solemnization : Asmara & Azizul

FINALLY! Another comeback after so many ones! And nope, this time I won’t bother giving any lame excuses. Let’s just sit back, and enjoy the ride aye?

This time around, I’m featuring one of my recent assignments I did in the state of Malacca. Asmara is my sister’s buddy. She’s also into photography that I even had some pretty good times poisoning her with Canon gadgets especially on the legendary EF 50 f1.8 lens (could not recall if she finally bought it though).

Nevertheless, enjoy these images. Let’s hope you guys love them as much as I do!

The first time I set my eyes on the background of the dais, it reminds me of paintings from Vincent van Gogh. Even my sister thinks so. These colourful flowers were actually made from tissue papers! An awesome DIY project.

And so the wedding reception kicks in the next day at her parents’ house. What you see previously were the decorations on the dining table, better known as “Meja Makan Beradap” in Malay culture. She also had a wall for her friends to put up wedding wishes and gifts.

While people start to fill up the area, Eta was getting ready for the day.

Similar to playing the pipe organ in churches to indicate that the wedding ceremony is about to start, we have a team of people playing traditional narrow drums we called “kompang” in a rhythmic pattern. This is pretty much to inform the surrounding neighbourhood that someone is getting married, and they may join the fun (although in this modern world we are living in now, people will only attend a wedding ceremony only if they get an invitation by the host).

Well, after tonnes of group photos, the ceremony came to an end. Before we end this chapter, allow me to share some images from their portraiture session.

Solemnization : Eta & Azli

My friendship with Eta goes all the way back to my final semester in a university in Dungun, Terengganu. Together with our close pals, Nuar & Iena, we knew each other when all of us joined the orientation committee for new students. In fact, Eta played a major role in the way I smile in front of the camera now. She managed to convince me that we express our happiness better by showing our set of teeth while smiling. (Me 0 : 1 Eta) Ever since then, I did not turn back at all. As for this session, it’s her turn to listen to my instructions, as I’m the one behind the camera. (Me 1 : 1 Eta)

The first thing that caught my attention as soon as I step into her room was her hand bouquet. Instantly, I got to get a photo of that.

Well, the Eta whom I once knew back in the university was not really into makeups. Most often than not, she goes to classes without any makeup (Ok, I don’t consider lip gloss as makeup ya?). Having said that, I have to admit that I was pretty excited to see her makeover for this ceremony.

In some parts of Malaysia, people practice tossing sweets and coins to the guests especially to the kids…

while sometimes, even the uncles and aunties would join in (and came fully equipped with apparatuses to boost their luck in collecting those items)

So, that’s all for folks. Coming up next, their wedding reception held the day after.

Cheers~

Reception: Ikram & Elena

Here comes more photos of Ikram & Elena. This time around, the photos are from their wedding reception held at Saloma Theatre Restaurant which is located very nearby to our iconic Twin Towers. To my non-Malaysian visitors, a quick google on the name ‘Saloma’ would give you a brief introduction on who Saloma is, and why do we even have a restaurant named after her. Let’s cut the introduction short and keep the photos coming your way~

This photobooth backdrop and decorations were done by Ikram and Elena themselves, with the help of some sidekicks and cute assistants of course.
