Reception : Zaiti & Khairil

Normally for Malays, we have two wedding receptions to be held by both families respectively. The first reception would be at the bride’s side which this time, took place the next day after Khairil & Zaiti’s solemnization ceremony.

A very pretty and neat looking self-made wedding dais. Creative sisters really come in handy during wedding preparations!

Owh, I still can’t understand how ladies can walk in such high heels. Haha!

Now, remember I said something about Zaiti’s creative sisters?

930_khairil_reception_flowergirls.jpg

Yeah~ Aren’t they adorable? No~ These are not the creative sisters, instead, they are the flowergirls. But I just can’t help putting this photo first due to their cuteness. Hahaha! Alright, now, back to the sisters!!!

930_khairil_reception_powergirls.jpg

TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

And not many weddings that I purposely take a picture of myself in the middle of the event, not even a handful. The fact that Zaiti has some cousins who tirelessly entertain me during the wedding with their photography questions made me capture this “Bazuki Shot” of mine on that day. Behold THE GUYS WITH CAMERAS~ (and yeah, Khairil too. He definitely won’t be there if he’s not one of us~)

One last special mention before I end this post, the CHIMP NO EVIL photographer~

Solemnization : Khairil & Zaiti

For the past few months, I have been capturing weddings of friends I made through out the years. Khairil is no exception. We studied in the same university, have a quite similar circle of friends, interested in the same hobby, and now, both are photographers. He also played a significant role in most of my 2010 photography assignments, that someone whom I can rely on most of the time. In other words, Gosh! I was truly overjoy to play a role during their wedding ceremonies.

Their solemnization took place in Zaiti’s hometown, Temerloh, Pahang. It was a sweet and short ceremony that night; and despite the fact that it was raining cats and dogs outside, they still look gorgeous through out the event.

Rewind: 2010

It’s that time again, that final hour before another year close its curtain and the new year come by. The past 12 months have been very interesting and I wish to relive those moments here.

JANUARY

For the first time in our life, we traveled our way to Europe without our parents. Yeah, normally, we would have the whole family to enjoy this kind of vacation but at the end of 2009, my brother and I decided to have a *siblings-only* backpacking style of vacation. It really open our eyes especially in financial management part as we do not have our beloved HUGE piggy banks whom we call Papa & Mummy along with us.That very new year, we celebrated it in Paris; Nope, they do not have any fireworks during new year in Paris. You better jot that down!!!!

FEBRUARY

I started to put Run/Jog into my weekly calendar after gaining some motivation from my Europe Trip. But the highlight of the month would be my Thaipusam coverage in Batu Caves, Malaysia together with the two Indonesian photojournalists, Ulet Ifansasti & Johannes P Christo; and fellow Chap Ayam photogs i.e Ian Ahmad, A.G and friends.

I was also overjoy for one of my euro trip photos were chosen to be in 10th Edition of Schmap Antwerp Guide!

MARCH

APRIL

This website was born!!!! The first ever couple featured here was Mai Nazura & Hanif, from their engagement session~ I knew these two lovebirds back in my university days. Kind of awesome to think that later, I was chosen again to share their joy as a married couple~

MAY

I went back to Fida’s hometown to attend her old friend, Ayu’s wedding which Fida happen to be the make-up artist. It was Fida’s so-called debut as one, so I have to get some photos for her portfolio.

JUNE

This month was dedicated to two couples. The first one would be Faiz & Tina. Faiz and I went a long way back since primary school and we are pretty much like brothers!!!

930_faiz_solemny_solo03.jpg

AUGUST

Fazrul & Lini gave me the chance to experience their Indian wedding reception. Now I can imagine how much details were bombarded towards my eyes during this kind of wedding. Can’t get enough of everything!!!

SEPTEMBER

I went to visit Amin Hariz, the son of my clients, Amani & Hariz. It’s a good feeling to see how the family grows and to realize that you actually played a role in a family’s history.

I also manage to secure some profile photos for Miss Anis Daud of Kertas Puteh during a photography workshop in Kuala Lumpur. Guess what, up until now, her name still draw traffics to my website. A very high profile photography chic, this Anis. :D

At the end of the month, I paid a visit to Universiti Teknologi MARA, Jengka campus for a session between students and alumni. To my surprised, this campus really have some opportunities for creative eyes to play with.

OCTOBER

I was trying my luck shooting sports after I left it for quite some time. The truth is, I don’t fancy sports photography as it suggests some burst mode to be used while I don’t enjoy using my camera as a machine gun. Shah and his Snipers Team went to the Finals and they didn’t mind being my test subjects during that game. Hahaha. Hey, they turn out to be the NCBL Cup champion for category B. WHEE~!!

KT & Zaki were next in the line. Met KT during a training we both attended about 2 years ago. Their solemnization ceremony is definitely one of my favourites this year!

Next was Seri & Eugene’s turn to tie the knot. Personally, I’ve been waiting for this moment to come ever since January. Seri is one of my good pals from PETRONAS Research. She has constantly support my photography work throughout the years that I have vowed to give her my ultimate best on her wedding. While Eugene, despite not being able to fully converse in Malay (as he’s an American), he has shown great effort to digest most if not all of our Malay wedding customs. In no time, I bet he will manage to use the word “Lah~” as good as we Malaysians and Singaporeans do. Haha

NOVEMBER

It marked the return of Mai Nazura & Hanif. This sweet couple from my university days is officially husband and wife this month. They are also the first couple whom I have covered from engagement ceremony to the wedding receptions on both sides of the family.

Khairil & Zaiti summed up the November’s assignments. Khairil is also one of my university friends I made in Perak; and he is also a photographer. This wedding is still a work in progress as you may not find it featured here yet. Nevertheless, some Sneak Peeks won’t ruin the fun, right? (well, you can actually find more of their photos in facebook :D)

DECEMBER

Amirul & Nadia were the last couple whom I shot in 2010. To make things even more interesting, Amirul and Khairil (yes, that Khairil above!!) were housemates during bachelor days and these are my friends whom I have meals together every now and then. Yet, as of now, I have only one image for you to feast on. More to come later~

930_amirul_solemnization_couple01.jpg

So this pretty much summarizes my whole photography year of 2010. Hey, by the time I reach this part of the post, it is already January 1st, 2011. Owh, nevermind.. I will still post this for my own reference. Before I end this, I would love to thank all of you who never get bored with what I have installed here. This blog was purposely set up as a medium to share how I see my world, with others. I’m looking forward to see a lot more things in 2011. Again, I thank you for your support!

Selamat Tahun Baru 2011!!!!  (that’s Happy New Year 2011 in Malay)

Euro Trip - Log #10

So this is it, my final log to conclude the 18 days vacation I spent in Europe. This log features images taken on January 17, 2010 which was also the final day for me and my brother Shah to spend visiting places before our departure back to Malaysia the next day.

Destination 9: Bruges/ Brugge

Like Ghent, Bruges is also a medieval town that you can find in Belgium. But that was not our main reason to pay a visit to this laid-back town. The real reason why we ended up in Bruges is due to our mom’s recommendation. Earlier, our parents have visited this town during Autumn season and they really enjoyed the canal cruise there. We thought of giving it a try as we really wanted to cover as many places while we are there in Belgium.

brussels_brugge.jpg

Just like most of our trips, this one took about about 90 minutes from Brussels via train. By then, we were pretty much get used to this mode of transportation. But we did not realize how far the city center from the railway station. We had a good 20 minutes walk to reach the city center and were blessed with a pretty neat scenery!

930_brugges_river01.jpg

As soon as we realized that we might wander around aimlessly (as we find the city map printed in a book were not really accurate), a quick drop at the Information Center leads us to the Markt where lots of wicked medieval architectures can be accessed from.

930_split_belfry.jpg

930_brugges_belfry02.jpg

930_brugges_belfry01.jpg

I spent quite some time at the Belfry just to enjoy its architecture details. The Belfry is the town’s bell tower and it has a very long history as well as a poem written about it.

930_brugges_architecture01.jpg

930_brugges_river04.jpg

We wanted to try out the canal cruise but was denied by mother nature. The river that runs along the canal was actually frozen. We even saw a wooden stool on the surface of that frozen river, as if it was being tossed to see how hard the surface has gotten.

930_brugges_river02.jpg

930_brugges_river03.jpg

We ended up taking pictures of ourselves around the town which I don’t feel like uploading them here as I bet most of you have seen enough of our self-portraitures through out this trip. Haha! We made our way back to Brussels just before dark to have our final dinner with Zura and to do some final shopping before packing our bags.

There you go, 1 euro trip, 4 countries, 3 siblings, 43 gigabytes worth of moments and memories of the trip me and my siblings had for 18 days; and 10 logs which I wrote to summarize the whole experience and share with others. It has been a pleasure of mine to be able to share snapshots of our memories with everyone, and I hope I don’t bore you with my bad writing skills. I wish I had done more homeworks prior to this trip so that I would be able to explain each and every spot that I have visited in extremely detail manner. Looking forward for your feedback on how can I improvise my next travel log here.

Till the next travel log,

Cheers~!!

yeap, this photo was taken during our visit to Bruges :D

Euro Trip - Log #9

I wouldn’t really call this one as destination #9 because this time, we did not go anywhere except in and out of Zura’s kitchen for food and living room to surf the net and watch TV. This particular day, nothing interesting happen until later, the snow fall at about 1 o’clock in the morning.

If you have been following my logs, you should see that none of those logs that I manage to capture photos of ourselves embracing the snow *cough* storm *cough* as there wasn’t any start with, until this particular moment, which I deem as one of the logs that made our journey to Europe worthwhile. :)

All the three of us were in our pyjamas when Zura shouted “IT’S SNOWING!!!” from the living room. We did not waste our time and start preparing ourselves for some snowy portraitures in the middle of the night.

930_brussel_snowbath_solo01.jpg

Shah was trying to be all macho by just wearing his fleece and his gloves.

930_brussel_snowbath_solo02.jpg

Zura was pretty much overdressed, especially when you know that inside that jacket, were her pyjamas. Anything to look good in front of the camera, I suppose~ :D She head back into the house almost immediately after I’m done with her shot.

930_brussel_snowbath_solo03.jpg

and that’s me, captured by Shah with lots of help by the tripod. Haha! (this particular shot stirred lots of comments over facebook yet I’m still loving this shot so much!!)

Being able to capture moments in the snow was really something I look forward to, during the trip. That night, I bet I slept smiling in satisfaction.

whee~!!

(goodness! It is almost a year since I had this trip, and yet, I have not finish documenting it here… ahahaha!!)
