Reception Dinner : Hanif & Mai Nazura

The reception dinner on Hanif’s side was organized in Kampung Pengantin Setapak. Nice venue, good ambiance, cool crowds, awesome music and tonnes of food!!!

So now I present to you, the reception dinner on Hanif’s side.

Cheers~

Wedding Reception : Mai Nazura & Hanif

So next day was the wedding reception at Mai’s side, in Kelana Jaya. A couple of tweaks on the dais, and walla!!!

It is then ready for the event :)

While outside, guests were entertained by a young Cak Lempong group which came all the way from Negri Sembilan. FYI, Cak Lempong is a traditional musical ensemble originated in Negeri Sembilan, one of the states in Malaysia. Being a Ghazal musician myself (Ghazal is another traditional musical ensemble that originates from the state of Johore btw), I believe our community enjoy listening to traditional acts performed by teenagers and kids because it shows that our old traditions are being lift up by the younger generation.

With all those things happening outside, Mai was pretty much ready for action in her room :)

I believe this is one of the rare shots that I would love to highlight here. In Malay customs, the groom will normally wear a traditional warrior-like costume during the wedding ceremony. That, you can see from Hanif’s outfit that day, made from a nice turqoise Songket. Complete with Tanjak (head gear) and Keris (dagger) fitted on his waist. In the middle of the photo is his bestman, whom we call Pengapit in Malay. That is the Baju Melayu (a traditional Malay costume too) he is wearing. Not often do I get the chance to actually capture how proud a Malay warrior can be, standing firm in front of our national flag, while being highly regarded by others. This image, captures all that. Simply stunning!!!

One of the traditions among the newly wedded couple is to feed food into each other’s mouth. It somehow reveals the “romantic” part of the couple as in the traditional Malays do not normally show affections in the public. For some special occasions like this, people enjoy teasing the couple about it..

until brides like Mai start to get creative with the food that she plans to feed into Hanif’s. :D

We concluded the day with some portraiture shots taken around the house.

SOLEMNIZATION : MAI NAZURA & HANIF

Now do you remember this lovely couple from any of my previous assignments?

930_mai_solemnization_intro.jpg

They are in fact the first client I featured here in this new photo blog of mine. Earlier this year, I shot their engagement ceremony which you can find here. I was truly overjoy to have them be the first couple for me to record their historical ceremonies of engagement, solemnization, bride’s reception and conclude it with the groom’s reception dinner as they unfold. So now you can already guess that the coming blog entries will pretty much highlight their events.

Portraiture : Seri & Eugene

As promised, it is time to conclude the beautiful wedding of Seri & Eugene with their portraiture session. Photos were mostly taken in Taman Putra Perdana, Putrajaya. It is one of the most beautiful parks you can find in this part of the town.

Ever since my initial discussion with Seri for this portraiture session, she has always wanted to have some photos taken in the Heritage Station Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. Sadly, that hotel has ceased operation and there’s no way that we could take photos there. Yet, we manage to get some images taken in another cool spot in town, which is at the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station itself!!

I hope you enjoyed these images of such an adorable couple, as much as I enjoy taking them. Seri & Eugene, thanks for having me to be part of this beautiful experience. Wishing you the best of everything as husband and wife. And Eugene, I still insist on taking you to have a meal at thed best Banana Leaf restaurant in town. Seriously, the Nasi Kandar you had back in the railway station, is nothing compared to the Banana Leaf, lah~ :D

Till then,

Wedding Reception : Seri & Eugene

If there’s that one word to describe Seri & Eugene as a couple, ADORABLE must be it. Being the one to introduce Eugene to tonnes of Malay wedding traditions and customs makes Seri a very helpful and understanding partner to have. While Eugene on the other hand, I bet he enjoyed each and every bit of this new experience Seri threw to him. :D. The only time I see him frown that day, was when he tried to finish up the draft of his speech, for the dinner.

930_seri_reception_prep_00.jpg

930_seri_reception_prep01.jpg

While Eugene focus on his speech, Seri gets to make up and get ready for showtime!

Do you notice the silver coloured hair ornaments that Seri was wearing? Those are what we call “Cucuk Sanggul”. They are traditional hairpins normally worn by ladies, back during the old days. They fit nicely with her wedding costume made from “Songket” fabric.

930_seri_reception_prep06.jpg

Eugene’s costume are also made from Songket to compliment Seri’s.

Somehow I find Fifi’s (Seri’s youngest sister) contradicting facial expressions in these 2 photos pretty interesting.

930_seri_reception_dai01.jpg

Next was the “Merenjis” session, which witnessed their parents, relatives and guests of honor giving blessings to both of them.

930_seri_reception_ceremony05.jpg

Seri & Eugene then move from the wedding dais and head to the main table for “Makan Beradab” together with their parents and guests.

930_seri_reception_ceremony11.jpg

and a special appearance by Seri’s uncle and cousin on the acoustics,

So, that’s about it, the auspicious day for Seri & Eugene. Sorry if this post actually took quite awhile to load. There are just so many photos of them worth sharing with everyone. Now, this is what I call my heaviest post ever, for these two adorable couple who are very generous with smiles.

If you think you have seen enough photos of them, please hold that thought. Aren’t you just curious to see how their outdoor photos taken around Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur will turn out?
